How are we already halfway done with this one room challenge? Last week, we demoed the bathroom. This week was all about buying more materials and prepping the bathroom for install.
It may not look like we have a lot done this week, but I feel like we have definitely come a long way. Last week, we were able to order a few more of the materials, pick up a new toilet and finally settle on a light fixture. I ended up going with this 4-bulb minimal vanity light from MODCREATIONStudio. They also happen to be a local Columbus business! I love supporting local when I can, so this reaffirmed my decision to go with this light.
I was a little torn on what to do for a mirror. As I mentioned in the mood board post, we already have a round brass mirror from Target in our dining room. I was thinking of possibly moving it the bathroom, but wasn’t sure if I wanted to do this because I really like how it looks in our dining room. I started looking for mirrors online but kept coming back to the one we already have.
The mirror is good quality, especially for the price AND on top of that Target was having a sale last Thursday so the mirror was only $42! Needless to say, I ended up getting a second one.
The shower and bath faucet I picked out is also in a matte black finish. It will help tie in the sink faucet, toilet paper holder and towel ring. I’m really excited about how this will contrast with the white tub and subway tile.
On Friday, we installed most of the drywall and a new tub, and on Tuesday we laid floor leveler which needed to dry for about 12-14 hours. After that it was time to lay the floor tile!
I AM IN LOVE. Even though it’s not completely done yet, I already know the tile is going going to be my favorite part of this room. Can’t wait to see it completely finished.
Next week’s to dos:
We decided to not only tile the shower with subway tile, but also tile about halfway up the walls. Now that we know how much we need, I am planning on going to pick that up this weekend. Besides the tile, the last big item we need to go get is the vanity and sink. Only three more weeks to finish this room!
