your go-to summer playlist for 2019

Looking for the perfect summer playlist? You’ve come to the right place! Every season needs a soundtrack, but nothing beats a good summer playlist. Whether you are by the pool, on the beach or at a cookout, no hangout is complete without one.

Check out a few of my recent favorites below and be sure to follow our summer playlist on Spotify!

Maggie Rogers – Fallingwater

I’ve been listening Maggie’s album, Heard It In A Past Life, non-stop since it was released, and this song is one of my favs. Between her free-spirited dance moves and Stevie Nicks vibes, Maggie is the definition of cool girl. Super excited to see her live later this summer.

Kacey Musgraves – High Horse

I know I am SO late to the game with this one, but what an album! Every song off of Golden Hour is a banger. As much as people were raving about this album, I put off listening to it because I do not stan country music (like, at all). I will be the first one to admit, I was totally making assumptions. I just bought this album on vinyl and you can be sure I will be spinning it all summer long.

LΓ‰ON – You and I

I have been a fan of LΓ‰ON since 2016, but if you haven’t heard of her there’s a reason. She just recently released her first full length album this year, and up until that point was only releasing a mix of singles and EPs. Her first single, You and I, is the perfect combo of synth pop and soulful vocals, and it does not disappoint.

Lizzo – Truth Hurts

This song is the self-affirming, female anthem of the summer you didn’t know you needed. She opens up with the line “Why men great ’til they gotta be great?” which sets the tone for the rest of the song. Not only is it catchy, but her lyrics are as relatable as they are comical.

Lights – Lost Girls

You know I couldn’t make a playlist and not include Lights. She recently announced she’s releasing her new acoustic album this summer and dropped the first single & video at the same time. This is a new vibe for Lights, and I am here for it.

BANKS – Gimme

I love me some BANKS and her newest single, Gimme, is perfection. She has consistently stayed true to herself and her sound, and I am so excited for her next album.

Vampire Weekend – This Life

This song makes me want to roll the windows down and go for a drive. Vampire Weekend always makes me feel good, and this song is no different. It’s the perfect tune for a sunny, chill day.

SYML – Clean Eyes

When I first heard this song, I loved it so much and immediately pulled out Shazaam to figure out who it was. SYML (pronounced “simmel”) dropped their debut album earlier this month, and while I am not over the moon about the album as a whole, there are definitely a few songs worth checking out along with Clean Eyes (Where’s My Love, Girl, WDWGILY).

Lana Del Rey – Doin’ Time

In anticipation of Lana’s new album, Norman Fucking Rockwell, she recently dropped a cover of Sublime’s Doin’ Time and NAILED it. You’re going to find yourself putting this song on repeat all summer.

Jonas Brothers – Sucker

I have to admit, I was never a JoBro fan in the past, but I can’t stop listening to this banger. I am a sucker πŸ˜‰ for a catchy pop song and this checks all the boxes. You can’t deny it’s fun and you’re def going to want to sing along.

My most anticipated summer albums:

  • Lights – Skin&Earth Acoustic (Release date: July 12)
  • Lana Del Rey – Norman Fucking Rockwell (Release date: “mid 2019”)
  • BANKS (Release date: TBD)

So, without further a do, here is my full summer playlist. Let me know what you think in the comments!
